The Project

The ASB Theatre Marlborough, which was opened in 2016, is a multi-use and purpose built venue.  It is situated overlooking Blenheim's Taylor River.  This facility, located in Blenheim's CBD, is conveniently located adjacent to the Marlborough Convention Centre.  It houses two theatres (700 & 100 seats) and naturally lit function space and foyers.  This means that you can come and enjoy all that Marlborough has to offer while enjoying the comfort of this outstanding venue.  It offers state-of-the-art facilities and amenities for your Live Performance, Performing Arts, Conferences and Function events.

  • Elegant public foyers allow for easy access for the two theatres.  These foyers allow for greater public access and are highly visible from the street. They can be used for pre and post functions, as public meeting rooms, and to display artworks.
  • The McLauchlan Family Auditorium seats 700+ audiences comfortably for large scale theatre experiences.
  • The Anderson Theatre seats up to 100 people.  A flexible space opening off the foyer with large access door off the scene dock.
  • In comparison to the past Floor Pride Civic Theatre, there is an increased number of toilets, improved egress for emergencies, and regulation disabled access.

  • The PAK'n'SAVE commercial kitchen is installed for service to all spaces.
  • The Gascoigne Wicks Green Room and dressing rooms can accomodate up to 60 people with toilet and bathroom facilities, in line with performers’ expectations, and disabled access and facilities.
  • Orchestra/Choral assembly room; laundry and wardrobe areas; an under-stage trap room; and good access to the performance space.
  • There is a large scene dock plus a lift for movement of equipment from basement to fly floor.
  • A loading dock at truck deck height provides ease of loading.
  • There is a safe and accessible stage door entrance, a large and spacious scene dock and wing space, and an orchestra pit with an automated thrust stage.
